Installing the Pharos EDI Service

Requirements

Before installing the EDI Service, make sure of the following:

  • The Pharos Database Service is installed
  • At least one Pharos Print Server or SignUp Server is available
  • Microsoft Internet Information Service 7.0 or later is installed on the web server PC that will contain the EDI
  • The .NET Framework 4.6.1. Installer for the .NET Framework are available on the Pharos disk image at common\win32\DotNETFramework.

Installation

The Pharos EDI is installed from the main Pharos CD.

To install the Pharos EDI

  1. Go to the web server machine and insert the Pharos CD. If the installers do not start automatically, run setup.exe in the root directory of the CD.
  2. Select Install Pharos from the main splash screen.
  3. Click Next at the Welcome screen.

  4. If any other Pharos components are installed on this PC, they will be listed. Click Next.

  5. Leave the install directory as the default. Click Next.

  6. Select EDI Service and click Next.

  7. Supply the network name of the machine on which you installed the Pharos Database Service and click Next.

  8. Enter the server password that clients will use to connect to the EDI Server and click Next.

  9. Check the installation details and click Start.

  10. The installation will commence. Once the installation is complete, click Finish.
  11. You will be asked to restart the PC. Click OK to do so.

Once the PC restarts, you can check the EDI Service status at System > Server Configuration context.

EDI communication can be encrypted using SSL. The EDI is initially installed with encryption turned off - encryption should be enabled as soon as possible; otherwise your site password will be visible over the network, permitting intrusions to your Pharos system. For information on the process of obtaining certificates and setting up SSL, see the document "Pharos EDI - Setting up Encryption  in the server\edi.net directory of the Pharos disk image.
