Installing your License
Pharos software requires a License Key in order to work. The License Key is stored in the computer registry.
The Pharos license key is supplied in two files:
- One called <SITECODE>.reg
- One called <SITECODE>.txt
To apply the license:
When installing or upgrading Pharos from the CD, the install wizard will ask for the location of the .REG file. Enter this (or browse to find it) and the license key will be automatically installed.
The .REG file
This file is the actual license key - it contains encrypted data specifying the license parameters. These parameters control the maximum number of components such as servers, printers and users, as well as the software expiry dates. The data is stored in the registry.
The .TXT file
This is a text file that describes the license parameters. It can be viewed with any text editor (such as Notepad or WordPad), and provides quick reference to the license parameters. It has no technical significance, and is included for your information only.
The license parameters can also be viewed from the License Limits context of Pharos Administrator.
<SITECODE> is the Client Site Code: an eight-character alphanumeric code assigned by Pharos Systems, which uniquely identifies your site. Your Client Site Code must be quoted in all correspondence.
The files may be supplied as a single zipped ('.zip') file. This file must be unzipped before the License Key can be applied.
You can view your Site Code in the License Summary section of the License Limits context.
